Headroom in
entrance / exit and bay to be 2400mm minimum.

Headroom over a lift
of at least 3800mm measured from the platform surfaces
when fully lowered. The headroom should be extending
rearwards 5000mm starting from 500mm beyond the non
drive on end of the lift and at least 1500mm on each
side of the lift longitudinal centre line at a height
of 3800mm.
A clearly identified
viewing area to be allocated where the test can be
clearly and comfortably observed.
At least 2 clearly
identified MOT parking bays to be provided not less
that 4500mm by 2500mm.
Area to be level
and true.
Headlamp test standing
area to be 2100mm wide and 3600mm long and level to
within +/- 6mm in any 3000mm. Where tester is in front
of lift, lift platforms must be level to above specifications.
Tester rails to be certified parallel to +/- 2mm of
standing area plane and many be recessed in to floor.
A clear durable headlamp datum line to be marked.
A minimum clearance
of 500mm between any part of the lift and adjacent
wall must be provided.
1000mm high rimovable
barrier rails may be required where distraction or
disruption to the test is likely by non MOT activities.
Vehicles must be
substantially level while being tested (gradient not
more tha 5%).
Before altering buildings
or installing equipment, contact the local Vehicle
Inspectorate Office to ensure all proposals are acceptable. |
