Class 7 MOT Notes Vehicle entrance to be a minimum of 3200mm high and 3500mm wide.

Headroom in MOT bay 3500mm (except over lift - see note 3).

Headroom over a lift of at least 4800mm measured from the platform surfaces when fully lowered. The headroom should extend rearwards 6000mm starting from 500mm beyond the non drive on end of the lift and at least 1500mm on each side of the lift longitudinal centre line. The width dimension may be gradually reduced to 1200mm on each side of the lift longitudinal centre line at a height of 4800mm.

At least 2 clearly identified MOT parking bays to be provided not less than 7000mm by 3000mm.

Area to be level and true.

Headlamp test standing area to 6000mm long and 3000mm wide and level to within +/- 6mm in any 3000mm. Tester rails to be certified parallel to +/- 2mm of standing area plane and may be recessed into floor. A clear durable headlamp datum line to be marked.

A minimum clearance of 500mm between any part of lift and adjacent wall to be provided and al least 4200mm between centres of adjacent equipment.

1000mm high removable barrier rails may be required where distraction or disruption to test is likely by non MOT activities.

Vehicles must be substantially level while being tested (not more than 5%).

Before altering any buildings or installing equipment contact the local Vehicle Inspectorate Office to ensure proposals are acceptable
